Early-season opening for outdoor pool
Published on 09 October 2020
Horsham Rural City Council is pleased to announce that the outdoor pool at the Horsham Aquatic Centre will open on Monday 12 October.
The annual opening date has been brought forward following the Victorian Government’s announcement that outdoor pools could reopen as part of the third step of the easing of COVID restrictions.
To ensure the health and safety of visitors, staff and the broader community, the reopening of the pool will comply with the restrictions mandated by Victorian Government.
- All sessions to be booked in advance via the Horsham Aquatic Centre website
- Maximum of 50 swimmers, lap and recreational swimming allowed
- Outdoor group fitness: 10 per class, 4m2 per person
- Outdoor personal training: Maximum two clients, 4m2 per person.
Chief Executive officer Sunil Bhalla said, the decision to open the pool came after discussions with the YMCA and regular users.
“In previous years the outdoor pool has opened in late November,” Mr Bhalla said.
“We’ve had contact with several community members who have requested the pool be opened early, given the COVID pandemic’s impact on opportunity for recreational activities,” he said.
Outdoor pool opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 6am until 10am and 4pm to 7pm.
