Footpath Trading
Footpath trading is an important part of the local retail culture which enhances the atmosphere of our community. We’re committed to supporting footpath traders, but we must balance this with the need to provide a safe environment for all.
How to apply for a footpath trading permit
Download and read through the Footpath Trading Guidelines linked below that set out directions and priorities for developing our goals of our community, our economy and environment.
Once you have read the guidelines its time to draw up a Site Plan outlining the placement of your outdoor furniture, signs, flags or displays. This plan can be hand drawn using our template linked below, then scanned and attached to your online application.
Complete your application by clicking the Apply button below, attach a copy of your public liability insurance with at least $10 million coverage and attach your site plan for review.
An invoice will then be emailed to you to make payment for the permit.
You are welcome to begin trading (within the trading guidelines) on the footpath as soon as you submit your application. A formal permit will be emailed to you once your application has been processed. Council aim to process footpath trading permit applications within five business days.
Our Local Laws team conduct compliance checks as part of their normal duties and can provide guidance or help as required, or contact Council on 03 5382 9777.
