Playgroups offer an opportunity for children aged 0-5 years to meet, play and learn with other children and a chance for parents and carers to mix with others. Playgroup gives children an opportunity to have fun, make new friends and develop new skills through informal play. All playgroups are different, but the emphasis is on fun and friendship.

What is Playgroup?

A regular meeting time for parents and their child/ren 0-5yrs, to play and socialise in a supportive environment "Time out" just to play.

Who will be there?

Other parents/carers/grandparents and their children, just like you!

Why go to Playgroup?

It gives your child a better chance to socialise and enhance early learning skills eg: literacy, fine motor skills & coordination, speech, creativity and problem solving. These skills will help them to become well-adjusted older children and teenagers.

What will we do there?

Your child can play on:

  • climbing gym
  • in the sand pit
  • play with puzzles/blocks/instruments
  • ride scooters/bikes
  • paint at an easel
  • make & play with play dough
  • try on some dress ups (ballerina, fireman, doctor, captain...)
  • share a snack/meal together
  • read stories/learn nursery rhymes
  • pretend play with cooking, hospitals, knights, princesses, racing car driver

Nitty Gritty's

  • Playgroup start times vary.
  • Parents and carers are asked to refrain from smoking on playgroup sites.
  • Let us know if you or your children have any food allergies.
  • Always supervise your child or ask someone to watch them if you need a toilet break.
  • Refrain from using mobile devices while at playgroup. Enjoy the one on one time with your child.
  • Tantrums/squabbles can often be fixed by distraction or moving child away. Offer another activity or toy to your child & praise their "good behaviour"!
  • Please help clear away, wash and dry dishes after our meal/snack time.
